After starting as a high school teacher and then serving for years as a college admissions officer working with some of the nation’s most prestigious universities—our founder, Sylvia, knew she wanted to use her deep, longtime experience to help students strike a better balance as they navigate the uncertainties of college admissions.

Sylvia realized that so many students have what it takes to get into the school and program of their dreams, but they don’t always know the right steps to take. For most students, college applications are something they only do once or twice in their lifetime. How can they possibly know where to prioritize their attention, what an admissions team really wants to see, or the best ways to apply to multiple schools at once without experiencing total burnout?

The reality is that when it comes to college, most families are flying by the seat of their pants.

Sylvia founded Opus College Prep with a vision to provide personalized guidance and unwavering support to students. That’s why she assembled a team of caring and savvy former admissions officers from top universities—a group of college prep pros that only continues to grow. Each individual contributes a wealth of expertise and complete devotion to student success. Today, the team started by Sylvia at Opus has become an educational super highway where students can find the tools and mentorship they need to move through the college admissions process with ease. Opus experts understand that student journeys are not just about applications and acceptances; they’re about dreams and aspirations. The Opus team fosters an environment where students are able to achieve their ambitions while feeling valued, understood, and encouraged. Our support extends beyond the college admissions process, and many of our students return as Fulbright, Marshall and Rhodes Scholars. Working with Opus is about more than just crafting compelling essays and perfecting applications; it’s about empowering students to discover their voice, articulate their goals with clarity, and set out on a life journey that is uniquely their own and achieving acceptance into top college choices.
